A reducer refers to an independent enclosed transmission device between the original motor and the working machine, used to reduce the speed and correspondingly increase the torque. In addition, in some cases, it is also used as a device for increasing speed, also known as an accelerator. There are many types of reducers, and here we will only discuss gear transmission, reducers, worm gear transmission, and reducers composed of them.

If classified according to transmission and structural characteristics, there are five types of reducers:

1. Gear reducers mainly include cylindrical gear reducers, bevel gear reducers, and cone cylindrical gear reducers.

2. Worm gear reducers mainly include cylindrical worm gear reducers, toroidal worm gear reducers, and worm gear reducers.

3. Planetary gear reducer.

4. Cycloid pinwheel reducer.

5. The five types of harmonic gear reducers mentioned above have standard series products, which only need to be combined with the required transmission rate, speed, transmission ratio, working conditions, and overall layout of the machine when used. Specific requirements can be selected from the product catalog or relevant manuals. Only when suitable products cannot be selected, design and manufacture them on their own. In addition, new types of reducers such as roller cam reducers and toroidal worm reducers are currently being manufactured and promoted in China.
